Did you know there are Dog doors and Cat doors that allow your pets to go in and out of their pet home all by themselves? This is a convenience for pet parents who work, and will have no worries for their pets when they need to go outside to smell the flowers and follow nature.
Many pet parents have a dog and a cat, or maybe one of each in their household. These pets can become bored or need to go outside for fresh air and investigate nature. To be inside all day long by themselves is not healthy. Pet doors can be used for cats as well, so if you have both that are close to the same size, either one can utilize this exit. Dogs need space and lots of exercise, cats don't need this as much, but they should be able to come and go as they want, if they are trained to do so. Doors for dogs and doors for cats is the answer for several reasons. This will allow your pets some independence to come and go in and out of their pet families home.
There are screen doors and doors that have flaps which are suitable for all sizes. A dog door should be tall and wide enough to go back and forth, whereas a cat door, can adjust to sizes to fit their needs. Pet doors should be large enough for them to slide through the door comfortably, but not too large to encourage security problems. Dogs that weigh 30 pounds or less can operate a screen door, but anything heavier in weight would need a flap door, especially if they are very active and muscular. Screen doors are not recommended for cats because they like to scratch at things. More than likely it wouldn't be long before you would have to replace the screen. The height and width are very important to minimize the space. Again remember to make sure, a dog needs to be able to slide back and forth through their pet door, whereas, a cat won’t have this problem. If the pet parent has a dog and a cat, then flaps would be a wise choice. If the dog is much larger than the cat, then this possobly would not work for both pets. Do some research on this.
